A Small Business Portrait Event in Bucks County with My Kid’s Threads LLC

Back in the fall, Lisa from My Kids Threads and I decided it would be fun to team up and organize a small business portrait event in Bucks County that would involve both of our small businesses and families in the community. Since both MKT (My Kids Threads) and HTP (Heather Thomas Photography) serve mainly children and families, we knew it would be a perfect match!

My Kid’s Threads is an upscale children’s clothing website where you can buy and sell high-end children’s clothing from your favorite designer brands like Ralph Lauren, Tea, crewcuts and Burberry.

We wanted to make the dress up event a great one and with that came some planning. We figured the February/March time frame would be a great opportunity to showcase some beautiful spring casual attire and special occasion wear for First Holy Communion and Easter celebrations.

I ran a casting call on Facebook for those interested and received dozens of emails from families in the area wanting to participate. With so many families interested we knew adding a second set of sessions would be a success.

The dress up small business portrait event ran from late February through early March. We collected the kids ages, sizes and gender to start preparing right away. We requested feedback from the parents in regards to clothing preferences and taste. Lisa worked hard before the event coordinating the outfits to match perfectly with the kids personalities and styles.  The clothing was dropped off and we were ready to roll!

The kids ages ranged from 3-12 years old. They arrived with their parents ready to debut the clothing for the photo shoot and they were excited! We had families join us from Yardley, Newtown, Holland, Philadelphia, Langhorne, Levittown and Pennington, NJ. When the parents came back to view their portraits, they kept commenting on how much fun their little ones had dressing up for the shoot. This was a great opportunity to try on some new clothing and get a few updated portraits. The event was a huge success!

Cheers to all of the wonderful families who made this event so much fun!

If you have kids who would be interested in participating in this sort of event in the future, please contact Heather with your child’s age, gender and location.
