Candid Newborn Moments // Newborn Photography Philadelphia

Newborn photography is one of my favorite types of photo sessions to be a part of.  I especially love capturing the candid newborn moments and having a big sibling involved makes it extra special.

Typically, when an inquiry comes in for a newborn photo session, I ask questions to get an idea of whether an in-home lifestyle or studio newborn session would be the best fit. They are both unique and a lot of fun! The main difference between the session is the backdrop and the length of the session. Some opt for their home as the backdrop with a more candid photography approach and others opt for a more “posed” newborn session at the Heather Thomas Photography studio in Bucks County. The posed newborn photo sessions take a bit longer as we wait for your little one to get into a deep sleep for newborn posing. For the lifestyle photography sessions, I arrive with some props to use and I photograph the baby awake or sleep, whatever he or she decides to do during that hour or so that I am at the home.

When I am on – location at my clients home, I look around for the best natural light. This is usually found in the master bedroom, nursery and of course outside! If the weather holds up, I love to step outside and get some photos of the family outside their home. I would kill for photos like this growing up!

Another part of being on – location at a clients home is being able to look around for the best places to arrange and hang the photos from their session. Here, mom knew exactly what area they wanted to create a family wall masterpiece. At the end of this post, you’ll see the family gallery wall with canvas’.  Beautiful job with the final display!!
