Classic Philadelphia Family Portraits
They wanted some classic Philadelphia family portraits to commemorate their time here in the US. This beautiful family of four have been living in the Newtown, PA area for almost 5 years! It was a family member who purchased the photography gift card to document their time here in the US. In fact, this may be their last official professional portrait opportunity here in Philadelphia before heading back “home” to Germany. I was lucky enough to be the one to capture it for them.
The Fall Backdrop
The sun was shining, the air was crisp. Leaves were in full autumn color – the picturesque fall portrait weather. We met for the family portrait session right about sunset at the outdoor studio on South State Street in Newtown. Everyone was ready to go (and the boys were likely ready to be done). We started on the big front porch. I knew the gray stone backdrop and the blue shutters would complement their outfit choices.
A lot of laughter was shared. This is a close-knit family with a special bond. I could tell right away. Did mom and dad smile the entire time? I’m pretty sure that’s a yes! I love when my subjects smile and embrace the photography experience.
After some family poses, I broke everyone apart for individual shots. I try to keep it cool with the older kids I get to photograph. They are so simple. No dancing around for me, they pretty much do exactly what they are supposed to! Mom and dad may have been behind me acting goofy to evoke the natural expressions we were aiming for.
