9 Fun Things to Do in Ocean City, NJ This Fall

Fall is one of my favorite times of year in Ocean City, NJ. The summer crowds have disappeared, the weather is cooler, and there is still plenty happening around town. This article is a must read if you’re visiting the Ocean City area and looking for fun things to do in Ocean City, NJ this fall.
If you’re planning a fall weekend at the Jersey Shore—or you’re a local looking for something fun to do with your family—October is packed with events, activities, shopping, entertainment, and plenty of reasons to get outside.
Here are 9 fun things to do in Ocean City, NJ this fall, including some of the biggest events on the 2026 Ocean City calendar.

1. Spend the Day at the Ocean City Fall Block Party
The Ocean City Fall Block Party is one of the biggest fall events on the calendar and definitely deserves a spot on your fall bucket list.
The event takes place along Asbury Avenue from 5th through 14th Streets and features more than 400 crafters, food vendors, music, and plenty of things to browse.
It’s a great family-friendly way to spend a Saturday exploring downtown Ocean City.
2026 date: October 10, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
2. Go to the Ocean City Airport Festival — One of My Personal Favorites!
If you’re looking for something a little different, don’t miss the Ocean City Airport Festival!
This is actually one of my personal favorite fall events in Ocean City. It’s such a fun local tradition and one of those events that feels uniquely Ocean City.
The festival gives families the opportunity to get up close to airplanes and experience the Ocean City Municipal Airport in a way you normally wouldn’t.
It’s a great event for kids, especially if they love airplanes, and it’s also just a fun way to spend a fall day together.
I love that there are so many different things happening around Ocean City in the fall, but this is one that I always recommend putting on your calendar.
3. Shop the Boardwalk & Downtown Merchant Discount Days
If you love shopping, October is a great time to explore Ocean City’s Boardwalk and downtown businesses.
The Boardwalk & Downtown Merchant Discount Days give you a chance to find special deals at participating businesses along the Boardwalk and Asbury Avenue.
It’s a great excuse to spend the day browsing shops, grabbing something to eat, and enjoying Ocean City without the summer crowds.

4. Check Out the Ocean City Jeep Invasion
If your kids love cars and Jeeps, don’t miss the Ocean City Jeep Invasion.
Jeeps take over the Boardwalk, creating a pretty unique sight for visitors and locals alike. It’s one of those Ocean City events that’s fun to walk around and experience even if you’re not a Jeep enthusiast.
2026 date: October 3
5. See a Show at the Ocean City Music Pier
Fall doesn’t mean the entertainment stops in Ocean City.
The Ocean City Theatre Company presents A Grand Night for Singing, a musical revue featuring songs from classic Rodgers & Hammerstein productions.
There are performances throughout October, making this a great option for a date night, girls’ night, or an evening activity with older kids.
6. Check Out the Porsche Boardwalk Reunion
Car enthusiasts will want to put the Porsche Boardwalk Reunion on their fall calendar.
The event brings classic and modern Porsche vehicles to the Ocean City Boardwalk. Even if you’re not a car enthusiast, it’s fun to walk the Boardwalk and check out the cars while enjoying a beautiful fall day at the shore.
2026 date: October 17

7. Bring Your Dog to Dog Days on the Boardwalk
One of the most fun fall traditions in Ocean City is Dog Days.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the Boardwalk during the event, making it a great opportunity to bring your four-legged family member along for a fall walk by the ocean.
It’s especially fun if your dog is part of the family and you want to include them in your Ocean City experience.
2026 dates: October 24–25
8. Enjoy a Fall Beach Day—and Take Family Photos
Of course, you don’t need a special event to enjoy Ocean City in the fall.
One of my favorite things about this time of year is simply spending time at the beach.
Take the kids for a walk, collect shells, watch the sunset, ride bikes, or grab a blanket and enjoy some time together on the sand.
And if you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, fall is one of my favorite times to photograph families in Ocean City.
The crowds are smaller, the temperatures are more comfortable, and the late-afternoon light can be beautiful. Instead of making family photos feel like a formal event, we can make them feel like what fall at the shore is actually about—walking, playing, laughing, and spending time together.

9. Dress Up for the Ocean City Halloween Parade 🎃
If your family loves Halloween, make sure to add the Ocean City Halloween Parade to your fall plans!
The parade is a fun Ocean City tradition and a great way to get into the Halloween spirit. Kids can dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy the festive atmosphere as the parade makes its way through town.
It’s one of those events that really captures the community feel of Ocean City in the fall.
Bring the kids, wear your costumes, and don’t forget your camera—you’ll definitely want pictures of the little ones in their Halloween costumes!
2026 date: October 24
Planning a Fall Weekend in Ocean City?
Whether you’re coming down for one of Ocean City’s big fall events or simply looking for a relaxing weekend at the shore, October is a wonderful time to visit.
From the Fall Block Party and Airport Festival to Dog Days, the Halloween Parade, and a quiet walk on the beach, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Ocean City after the busy summer season.
And honestly, that’s one of the things I love most about fall here. You still get all of the things that make Ocean City special—but with a little more breathing room.
Be sure to check the official Ocean City events calendar before your visit, since event dates and details can change.
