Sibling Photography in Philadelphia::

It was a beautiful summer evening in June for a sibling photography session in Philadelphia.   The sun was just beginning to set. I knew a field location in Bucks County, PA would be the perfect backdrop for these two girls who were planning to wear white for their photo shoot. I was hoping the grass would be nice and tall and perhaps some flowers would be in bloom to give emphasis to the connection I wanted to capture.

Photography Props::

Let’s face it, I keep it simple when it comes to props. My favorite prop is the earth. There is nothing more beautiful than photographing a child or family in their natural environment. This gives them the opportunity to explore and be kids while I observe. Sometimes I’ll grab one of my favorite items such as a piece of furniture or one of my vintage props to capture the kids and their closeness. In this case, my yellow chair was perfect. It’s smaller than it looks in the photos, so it gives me a chance to keep them nice and close on the same platform. We all know how squirmy kiddos are!

Photographing children together with their siblings is one of my favorite types of sessions. My one goal for these photos is to keep everyone happy and structure the session in most casual fashion so that everyone is having fun and that I am able to document them as they truly are during that time. Scouting the location beforehand is important to me. This way, I know exactly where I want to start and end the session. This keeps the flow during the session and helps transition the kids from spot to spot.

Is there anything greater than the love of your sister? Going through life’s experiences, trying new things, laughing, learning & leaning on each other. These two had a lot of love for one another. Their energy and liveliness were contagious.“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
